deer city @ the artisan's cafe, bike and bike benefit

The Artisan's cafe has become an all ages mainstay in downtown olympia. After the manium closed it assumed the role of the only legit place downtown to throw an all ages show. there are a couple of downsides, the shape of the space is not ideal for shows, and you can't charge a cover so it is kind of tough for out of town bands to make much money. However they have a nice sound system and are super nice folks. Email chris@theartisanscefe.com if you want to book a show there.

A couple of days ago I saw deer city, the issaquah wonderkind. I was really impressed by his programming skills and musical ideas. June Madrona is playing a show with him and The Nextdoor Neighbors who are also really good even though they totally did not show up to their last show at the artisan's cafe.

Afterwards I went to the bike and bike benefit show. Bike and Bike is a free bike collective run in downtown olympia. they provide a free work space where you can go to fix your bike with all of the necessary tools and parts free of charge. The show featured three of olympia's local favorites, Sisters, Sex Vid, and Son Skull. Punks filled the tiny bike shop standing on top of the work counters, and spilling out into the street. Lots of folks were talking about the riots and the overturned cop car at the evergreen state college last night.

Bicycles

I'm back on my bike again thanks to tracy and russel at bike & bike, the free bike shop downtown in olympia. They helped me to overhaul my headset and put new pedals on my bike. I had a hard time getting the tire on and tore a couple of holes in my tube. It has these really tiny tires, I think they are 700/24s if that means anything to you. I think it means 700cm across and 24cm wide.
Anyhow I rode it partway to work today. Fun city. On the way over I say pidgons and geese coming back north. I guess spring is coming. Today bob is mixing the jenny jenkins and yes please albums, I'm doing a host of errands, returning a paper cutter, checking o nthe price of custom stamps, making web button links for some folks we are distributing. Mailing out orders. RIght now bob is cooking up some cereal while we listen to Democracy Now! amy goodman is god. This is a picture of polka dot dot dot in new zealand. hella cute.
